Registered/Certified Medical Assistant
SUMMARY:
Under general supervision in a fast-paced outpatient endocrinology clinic setting, the Certified or Registered Medical Assistant will assist with direct patient care as dictated by established protocol.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
- Maintains accurate documentation in electronic patient record.
- Performs routine specialized procedures, such as venipuncture and sterile dressing changes under established protocols.
- Educates and advises patients on specific medical issues within established parameters to include obtaining prescription information.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Must be a current Registered or Certified Medical Assistant who is comfortable with phlebotomy
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to collect standard vital signs
- Experience with electronic medical records system (GE Centricity preferred)
- Knowledge of patient evaluation, care charts, and histories
- Must be a team player
- Bilingual a plus
