Position Overview: The Sr. Accountant supports the Controller in management of the accounting department, as well as assisting with general accounting in day-to-day activities. The Sr. Accountant's responsibilities include reconciling account balances, quality control of day to day accounting tasks, maintaining the general ledger, preparation of monthly financial reporting, budgeting, compliance with state and federal reporting/taxation requirements, liaising with external CPAs for audit and tax, and preparing month-end/year-end close entries. A successful Sr. Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management of accounting department and office staff; quality and timeliness of work, attendance, punctuality, and disciplinary actions.
- Create and maintain environment of staff development: selection, training, mentoring, accountability
- Ensure all day to day accounting activities are completed efficiently and accurately. Includes: training, mentoring, and oversite to all accounting and office staff
- Supervision of AR, AP, Inventory, Billing and Collections; covering positions as needed
- Month-end and year-end financial statement review and closing; Account review, reconciliation, and corrections; Sales tax verification
- Assess internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas, assist with initial internal control evaluations
- Software support (inventory and accounting)
- Work with external CPA firm for audits and tax preparation
- Other duties as assigned
Supervision Received: The position is supervised by the Controller and senior rated by the President and Vice President.
Supervision Exercised: The Sr. Accountant supervises and is the primary annual work evaluator for the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory, Billing, and Collections
Qualifications & Skills:
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (unless board exempt) This position
requires a Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, finance, or tax. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in accounting is required.
MINIMUM TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Organized, good time management skills, able to handle multiple projects, positive attitude even under stress, strong Excel skills, Driver’s License, and ability to pass a background check.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The preferred level of education is a CPA. The preferred level of experience is five (5) years' experience in accounting.
Pay range: $80,000 - $90,000/yr, or hourly equivalent, DOE (Depending on Experience)
