Our boutique litigation firm is adding an in-office staff attorney to our civil rights jail neglect injury/death practice team. Two years of civil litigation experience is preferred. We represent families of people who die in jails from neglect, abuse, or suicide, as well as people catastrophically injured in jails. Most cases involve people dying from medical neglect, and we file all cases in federal court.
The staff attorney position involves communicating with current and potential clients and opposing counsel; drafting discovery objections and responses, motions and responses (including assisting with frequent summary judgment motion responses), letters, and other case-related documents; appearing at out-of-town hearings; taking and defending depositions; and assisting with trial preparation and out-of-town trials. The position also involves critically reviewing and summarizing voluminous evidence (documents, audio recordings, and video recordings).
We offer a friendly, fast-paced environment with benefits. Base annual starting salary is $110,000 to $150,000, plus bonuses when cases resolve, with $200,000 or more eventual total yearly potential. If you would like to be part of a hard-working team that is making a difference, this might be your opportunity.
Please upload your resume', a cover letter, a writing sample (10 pages or more with legal citations), your law school transcript (if you graduated in the last 10 years), and your salary requirements. Law review or high class rank preferred if you are a recent law school graduate. A federal judicial clerkship would be a plus.
