Position Description
Job Title: Restorative School Practitioner
Reports To: Director of Restorative Practices
Status: 25 hours per week

The right candidate will possess at least two years of professional experience in education, haves, and demonstrated a commitment to conflict resolution and the power it has in the community. The position has a chance to coordinate and train school-aged individuals and adults while working directly to witness the impact of a growing program that transforms conflict into conversation across locations, demographics, and age groups.
Essential Responsibilities Include:
Promote and Facilitate Restorative Practices
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and facilitate engaging classroom Circles that:
- Foster community building,
- Develop communication skill and social-emotional learning,
- Enhance student engagement with curriculum content
- Facilitate restorative circles and conferences to address student misconduct as referred by School Resource Officers and school Administration.
- Develop and oversee individualized student behavior plans that promote positive change
- Train and coach staff to increase overall capacity for restorative engagement.
- Assist with oversight, coordination, and coaching of Peer Mediators
- Assist in developing and delivering Classroom instruction regarding conflict and communication skills
Restorative Schools Maintenance and Development
- Through consultation and listening, maintain a clear understanding of partner schools’ goals and vision for the project.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services delivered and their effectiveness
- Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, counselors, and social workers to ensure a comprehensive approach to student support.
- Develop and maintain resources and materials to support the implementation of restorative practices.
- Pursue new opportunities to advance school partnerships, in collaboration with the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Training and Director of Restorative Practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Commitment to restorative practices principles and an agreement to a code of ethics and statement of confidentiality;
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families from diverse backgrounds;
- Experience facilitating restorative circles, conferences, and mediations;
- Possess 2+ years of professional human services and/or education experience;
- Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills;
- Strong ability to work both independently and in a team;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Planner, etc.
Preferred Experience
- Professional and/or volunteer experience in Lancaster County
- Multi-lingual language proficiency
- A valid driver’s license and occasional use of a personal vehicle
Work occurs primarily over school hours (7:30-3) between the school site and the Lancaster office, with the expectation of occasional weekend and evening work with clients, and/or special events.
Work may require significant walking between offices at the school site but extended sitting at times. There may be chances to travel within and outside of Lancaster County for meetings and/or conferences. The hired individual must be able to lift 40 lbs. Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30,000.00 - $31,250.00 per year
Expected hours: 22 – 29 per week
