The Receiving Supervisor works under the direction of the Senior Assistant Store Managers, and is responsible to: 1) Support the receiving process, ensuring good item condition and price, and ensuring a positive donor experience. 2) Complete sales transitions, provide excellent customer service and provide post-sales support, achieving sales and customer service goals. 3) Supervise receiving and sales associates. The Receiving Supervisor collaborates extensively with Receiving Associates, Sales Associates, Truck Drivers, donors and customers.

Support the Receiving Process
~70% of time
Support the receiving process for all incoming donations (from donors at the store, from store pick-up trucks, and from our deconstruction crews):
- Cheerfully greet donors; accept donations or graciously decline unacceptable donations, giving options for donating, reuse or recycling.
- Help donors and truck drivers unload items safely and carefully, avoiding causing damage.
- Test appliances when possible to ensure they are in good working order and make simple repairs if necessary.
- Clean and make minor repairs to donated materials as needed
- As applicable provide Stardust generic receipt or itemized receipts to donors and let them know donations are tax deductible.
- Thank donors sincerely and let them know how it helps the community and environment.
- Give donors information or coupons on any sales, promotions, or events, when applicable.
- Collect Stardust copy of receipts from donors and trucks drivers.
- Research items to assess pricing and the best way to sell. Identify vintage, high value, low supply/high demand, or unique items that may sell better and/or for more money online.
- Thoroughly and accurately enter all incoming donations into POS system before placing on floor
- Tag/price items for sale in store at 50-80% off regular retail price.
- Prepare and post Craigslist listings as applicable with appealing product descriptions and photos (highlighting brand names, features, and characteristics that increase value and generate interest in the merchandise)
- Safely move items to sales floor within 24 hours, using proper material handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly receiving area.
- Role model, and ensure Sales Associates follow the Donation Experience guidelines to ensure donors have a positive donation experience at our store
Sales and Post-Sales Support
~20% of time
- Help implement and maintain Stardust merchandising standards.
- Engage with customers to assess their needs and help them find materials.
- Share product features, benefits, and value; answer customer questions knowledgeably.
- Sell not only the primary item, but additional items customers may not have anticipated but will need for their project, or that would complement their project.
- Apply sales techniques and current promotions to drive sales. Follow pricing policies and negotiate only within the guidelines of the policy
- Ring up purchases, process payments accurately, and thank customers.
- Handle all customer questions, purchases, returns or issues graciously and effectively.
- Work as a team to hit sales goals, and ensure the safety of everyone in the store.
- Ability to open and close the store.
Supervise receiving and sales associates
~10% of time
- Provide supervision to receiving and sales associates
- Provide oversight of store when on duty
- Open and close the store following Stardust operating procedures
Other duties
- Meet customer service standards; bring issues to resolution, maintain customer satisfaction.
- Publish daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and sales reports.
- Assist with merchandising, inventory & cycle counts, or other pperations as assigned.
- Comply with laws, regulations, and SNBS operation/safety policies & procedures on the job.
- Attend required meetings, teambuilding, or other organization events. Maintain awareness of promotions and may support promotions and fundraising events.
- Practice and promote conservation principles on the job and in the community.
Job Requirements
Education, Experience, and Licenses
- A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required, with 2-3 years of retail/warehouse experience.
- Previous sales of building materials, or experience in construction, remodeling, or building maintenance, or other building material knowledge is preferred.
- A valid Arizona driver’s license with clean driving abstract is required

- English speaking; bi-lingual Spanish would be a plus but is not required.

Physical requirements / Equipment / Certifications

- Covid-vaccinated or willing to begin the series as a condition of employment.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store, including bending at the waist, crouching, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
- Ability or willingness to learn how to operate material handling equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, and forklift (Forklift card a plus but not required, SNBS will train)
