We are looking for an experienced and skilled Lead Line Cook to prepare meals according to our menu, methods and recipes. Successful candidates must be deft in moving throughout the kitchen and able to multi-task. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is expected. Some supervisory responsibilities will be required. This position provides opportunity for professional development and advancement. Responsibilities
- Deliver expected results by following directions, asking for clarity, and executing efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare ingredients using a variety of cooking techniques (Roast, Braise, Saute, Bake, etc.)
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency in a professional manner as circumstances require.
- Exhibit a "Clean as You Go" style of work.
- Keep a sanitary and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Work in coordination with team members to ensure orders are prepared accurately, on time, and consistently to our standard.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
- Ensure the kitchen is cleaned per standard and ready for the following days' service.
- Continuous inspection and rotation of ingredients.
- Monitor stock and communicate in advance when there are shortages.
- Anticipate needs of the customers, the line, team members and the restaurant overall.
Skills
- ServSafe certification (Dizzy Birds will cover cost of class and/or exam)
- Proven experience as cook.
- Able to demonstrate safe knife handling skills while producing consistent cuts with speed and accuracy.
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, roasting, etc)
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work safely in a professional kitchen.
- Ability to work in a team and to work as a leader.
- Good communication skills.
- Comfortable working in an open kitchen and interacting with customers and co-workers in a confident, supportive & professional manner
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand and be mobile for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift and manage up to 50#.
- Physically able to perform the requirements of the position.
Schedule
- 12 PM - 9/10 PM Tuesday - Saturday
- Closed Sunday-Monday
Pay
- Paid weekly via direct deposit on Fridays
- Hourly wage plus $3.50 -$6.00+ per hour staff gratuities
