Job Summary:
The Care Associate will provide basic care to residents and perform basic nursing procedures under the direction of the licensed nurse.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Accurately perform and record vital signs, height, and weight.

Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring and getting to and from activities and meals according to the individual service plan.

Maintain a clean and safe resident environment.

Recognize abnormal changes in body functioning and the importance of reporting such changes to a supervisor.
-
Perform palliative and post-mortem care as needed.

Perform routine care rounds on each assigned resident, at minimum, every two hours (or more frequently as indicated).

Follows proper procedures in emergency situations and responds promptly and positively to resident requests for assistance.

Knows the location of each resident, reminds them to sign out when they leave the building, and notifies the supervisor immediately if unable to locate a resident.

Follows proper procedure for clocking in and out for shifts.

Follows guidelines for uniforms and wears name badge daily.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Skills & Abilities:

Excellent judgement and decision-making skills.

Basic understanding of medical terminology.

Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions.

Able to communicate in English, talk and hear effectively to convey instructions and information to residents and team members.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education & Experience:
-
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and 1-2 years’ experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Graduate of a state approved nursing assistant training program and passed a state approved competency examination (written and skills) (C.N.A. only)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk 75% of the day; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear, pushing, pulling or grasping. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.

Subject to reactions from dust, disinfectants and cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and other conditions.

Use personal protective equipment and supplies when needed.
