Job Description: Next Generation Pastor

Summary of the role
Next Gen Pastor is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring youth ministry with both long-range and short-term targets.
Wages and Time:
- FT, hybrid role in Spokane with flexible schedule, starting $45,000-$55,000/yr DOE
- The Salary will be dependent on experience and commensurate with New Community internal pay scale.
- A professional expense account will be allotted to the pastor monthly for meetings and discipleship
Preferred Personal Qualifications:
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Working with Youth: 1 year (Required)
- Embrace and Embody the Vision and Values of New Community; placing a high priority on your personal Gospel life and mission.
- Demonstrate successful experience working as a member of a highly functioning team.
- Passion to share life with others; an incarnational, missional approach to ministry and an understanding of our particular ecclesiology.
- A self-starter with a vision of what is needed to develop leaders and foster life-changing ministry.
- Ability to function independently while collaborating with staff, parents and volunteers.
- Able to establish productive, cooperative relationships with volunteers, group leaders, parents and staff.
- Willingness/ability to hold theology in tension in community
Key Areas of Responsibility:
General
- Plan and facilitate a weekly Youth Ministry programming to develop our young people into active, life-long learners of Jesus Christ.
- Meet regularly with students one-on-one and in small groups.
- Provide opportunities/events for outreach and service in our local community.
- Provide events beyond Wednesdays where students can connect to develop and strengthen relationships with others.
- Work with staff on the oversight and administration of the church budget for Youth Ministries.
Youth
- Cast and carry out vision for student ministry at New Community, developing a middle school and high school ministry with potential for young professional ministry development
- Professionalism and collaboration with the Children/Kids Director in upper elementary small groups to foster a holistic, next generational ministry approach
- Recruit, train, equip and coach volunteer youth leaders, providing direction, encouragement and accountability as they lead youth ministry groups and missional initiatives
- Be reasonably accessible for pastoral care, spiritual direction and counseling students, young professionals and families as needed
- Establish strategies that enable the next generation to be involved and participate in the total ministry of the church
- Develop a missional focused, discipleship ministry based on a small-group model that embraces community ministry partnership
- Willingness to partner with/collaborate with other non-profits/organizations.
Expected Outcomes:
- Creating and implementing structure of student discipleship in both MS and HS students
- Integration into full church expression/Intergenerational opportunities
