Project & Technology Manager

The Project & Technology Manager is a newly created, key position to serve the broad needs of Mercy Care’s programs and operations. They will help improve efficiencies and modernize Mercy Care’s technology systems to increase Older Adults’ access to healthcare, empower elders to use telehealth and other technological advances, and enhance social care to Elders Mercy Care assists. The incumbent will collaborate with other team members to develop evaluation instruments to understand the impact of Mercy Care’s Technology Assistance Programs to help elders age in place more successfully, ease their isolation and loneliness, and address their other social determinants of health.
The Project & Technology Manager will be a compassionate, computer-savvy, detail-oriented individual who can prioritize and manage their time effectively and function as a trusted, supportive, and respectful member of the whole Mercy Care Team. In addition, the incumbent will be resourceful, an imaginative thinker, and possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and technology skills while simultaneously managing myriad details.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Project & Technology Manager is responsible for providing project and technical support to Mercy Care Administrative and Program Team Members and the Executive Director, as needed.
- In collaboration with the Program Director, the Project & Technology Manager will develop, maintain, and execute Mercy Care’s Permanent iPad Loan and Technology Assistance Training Programs, including scheduling, volunteer coordination, and staffing, to teach Mercy Care Volunteers and Elders they assist, and Older Adults in Tri-Lakes Communities to use their electronic devices more fully and efficiently.
- The Project & Technology Manager will research AI applications that could be applied to Mercy Care’s mission to enhance the fullness of life of elders living in their community and develop an AI draft policy suitable and applicable to a nonprofit organization serving elders based on ethics, integrity, and care that is friendship and relationship based.
- In collaboration with the Director of Elder Care and Volunteer Services, input Elder and Volunteer data to Better Impact Software and develop and analyze reports.
- In collaboration with the Program Director, manage the details, venues, and supplies for Age-friendly Education Network Events and Parish Nurse Programs.
- The Project & Technology Manager will support Mercy Care Team Members with technology assistance and interface with Mercy Care’s IT Technical Assistance and Internet Provider, as needed.
- Support Team Directors organization-wide, as needed.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Collaborating with the Director of Elder Care & Volunteer Services, enter Volunteer Time Sheet and Elder Assistance data in Better Impact software; generate and submit timely reports to AmeriCorps Seniors/RSVP; prepare and analyze weekly performance indicator reports for Director of Elder Care and Volunteer Services to present at weekly Team meeting; prepare reports for Board and Committee meetings as requested by the Director of Elder Care & Volunteer Services.
- Developing and maintaining adequate digital or hard copy records documenting assistance provided to Volunteers, Elders they assist, or other Older Adults, as assigned by the Director of Elder Care & Volunteer Services.
- In collaboration with the Program Director, develop technical assistance training evaluation surveys. Summarize, analyze, and share the results with the Mercy Care Team.
- The Project & Technology Manager will stay abreast of telehealth advances and other technology developed to assist Elders to age in place more successfully.
- Research emerging technologies as concerns elders as they occur, and recommend updates to AI or technology policies and procedures as needed.
- Research, evaluate, analyze, and recommend AI applications for Mercy Care Programs such as fundraising, social media, outreach, advancing community relations, and Age-friendly Education Network events. The Project & Technology Manager will lead or assist in the planning, implementing, and introducing projects for new systems and technologies.
- Attend Mercy Care events and meetings as requested.
- Provide technology for external hybrid, virtual, and in-person meetings and forums, as requested.
- Learn Mercy Care software programs, perform data retrievals, and develop reports as requested. Train Mercy Care Team Directors on how to enhance efficiencies and employ enhanced capacities of software programs.
- Maintain inventory of all Mercy Care hardware, software, and accessories, recommend upgrades when needed, and train Mercy Care Team Members on new software upgrades.
Requirements:
- Respect the values and charism of the Sisters of Mercy.
- College Degree or commensurate experience required.
- Strong technology and database management skills and experience required.
- Public Presentation skills.
- A willingness to travel within Essex and Franklin Counties, to other North Country communities, and occasionally beyond for professional development or other purposes, as requested; may include overnight travel rarely but occasionally.
- Knowledge of or experience with older adults, health care, social care, volunteer or training programs.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential matters. The position requires demonstrable poise, tact, and diplomacy at all times.
- Must have the ability to relate to Older Adults, Volunteers, Donors, Board Members, Team Members, and the Sisters of Mercy.
- Knowledge of the Adirondack Region in Northern New York or other rural communities.
- Strong research, analytical, and policy development skills preferred.
- Strong organization and scheduling skills.
- Ability to manage time efficiently, work on multiple, simultaneous projects and deadlines, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Enjoy a hybrid work schedule – 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely per week. Must have a cell phone.
- Access to a vehicle: must have a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work occasionally beyond normal weekdays Monday - Friday, during daytime hours.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including composing correspondence, writing reports, and creating PowerPoint presentations.

- Mercy Care’s leased office space is located in St. Margaret’s Convent in a long-term care skilled nursing facility.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to use a computer. Must be able to drive a vehicle. Must be able to use a telephone and participate in meetings using Zoom or other meeting technology. Job Hazards: Stress level is moderately high. Possible exposure to communicable diseases from residents and staff in the building where Mercy Care’s leased office space is located. All Mercy Care staff are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Salary & Benefits: Salary $55,000 - $60,000 commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
