POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Social Services is responsible for providing related social work services so that each resident may attain the highest practicable level of physical, mental and psychosocial well-being. The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates knowledge of age specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents (i.e. physical, cognitive, and socialization factors) in planning social services programs.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to plan social services for residents with the following needs; therapeutic, neuro and dementia, dialysis, IV therapy, and infectious diseases if applicable
- Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in unit/shift assignments to meet resident and family needs
- Communicates and observes the Corporate Compliance Program effectively and complies with Code of Conduct when performing work functions
- Supervises, trains, evaluates, counsels, and disciplines inter-departmental personnel
- Assists in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection and termination of social services personnel
- Determines departmental staffing requirements necessary to meet the Social Services Department’s needs and recommend to the Administrator the number and level of personnel to be employed
- Schedules department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules), personnel, work assignments, etc., to expedite work and stay within approved budget
- Provides orientation to long term care facility and services rendered, to residents and family members
- Arranges inquiries, evaluates and assesses the needs of prospective residents to determine appropriateness of facility placement
- Other duties as assigned by the Administrator
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Either a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Sociology; a B.A. or M.A. in Social Work; or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker’s Certificate
- Possess a valid State Driver’s License and have transportation available for job related travel
- Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Must meet health assessment requirements, including a two-stage Mantoux skin test
- Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required
