Axis Construction is a national commercial general contractor. We work for major brands across the US. We are growing rapidly and need someone to join our team for the long haul! The successful candidate will have a significant and essential role in our firm with a “can do” attitude. Ability to work well with others and work with deadlines. The job requires an understanding of job cost accounting software (QBs) and financial reporting. Ability to work within the group and independently with a strong work ethic, organized and attention to detail. Discretion is of the utmost importance.
Day to day functions, include data entry for accounts payable, accounts receivable, including monthly AIA billings, and general ledger using the job costing accounting software. Daily scanning and paperless record management. Reconcile credit cards. Weekly job cost reporting and monthly work in progress. Provide monthly inhouse financials to CPA and provide bank with a quarterly statement.
Weekly and monthly disbursements for vendor payments and subcontractors.
Provide support to the other team members, including certificates of insurance, subcontractor insurance records, and other duties as required to maintain project files. Assist with hotel arrangements and travel for out of state projects as required. Assist with bond procurement as necessary. Insurance audits and various other tasks associated with the position as required.
Assist with health and dental enrollments and changes, 401k weekly submittals.
Monthly reporting on workers comp reports, filing state tax returns, insurance builders risk reporting, monthly reconciliations. Annual reporting of W-2’s and 1099s.
Maintain equipment inventory, vehicle registrations and insurances, permits.
Fill in for payroll supervisor during vacations to include processing and verifying time, processing reports, certified payroll and direct deposit. Phone coverage as needed.
Requirements:
At least 3 years of bookkeeping experience in construction accounting. Experience in word and excel spreadsheets. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet deadlines. Responsible, honest and hardworking
References required. Salary based upon experience.

- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role
- Strong understanding of technical accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in using 10-key typing for data entry
- Familiarity with governmental accounting regulations and reporting requirements
- Knowledge of payroll processing procedures and systems
- Experience with budgeting and financial analysis
- Ability to perform account analysis and identify discrepancies
- Excellent written communication skills for financial report writing
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
