Library Custodian and Maintenance Support
Library Department
Up to 19 hours per week
Part-Time Temporary (Not eligible for benefits)
Hiring Pay: $17.50/Hour
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Not Eligible for all Benefits, Will Accrue Paid Sick Time
Flexible schedule required
Monday - Friday 3 hours per day between 5:00 AM and 8:00 AM

Work Schedule:

One (1) - 15 hour per week position.
Essential Duties:
- Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes, and buffs floors; washes windows, walls, and mirrors; cleans and disinfects restrooms and replenishes supplies; dusts and cleans offices; empties trash cans

Performs minor light repairs

Moves office furniture and equipment
-
Shovels snow from building walkways in winter and salts icy walkways as needed

Acts as back-up for transit driver when needed. Duties include driving transit van over established route; picking up and delivering bins containing books, mail and miscellaneous materials; loading and unloading van at specified locations; emptying book drops; picking up book donations and processing book donations.

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
-
High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Ability to read and write in English.

Prior custodial experience and background preferred.
- Must be able to lift, shift and move heavy loads up to 75 pounds.

Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record check with a clear driving record.

Must be able to keep a schedule.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and criminal background check.

Knowledge of machinery, equipment and tools necessary for maintaining public areas

Knowledge of basic preventative maintenance on assigned equipment

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a library environment.

Must be able to lift, carry, and/or push materials weighing up to 75 pounds, including full book carts, book bins, and lifting tubs.

Sufficient to effectively and safely perform required duties and to safely operate required equipment and city vehicle as needed

Sufficient to clearly, concisely, and effectively communicate in person and over the telephone
