Job Summary:
The Staff Psychiatrist will work with a multidisciplinary professional and clinical staff and be active in fostering a therapeutic milieu as well as providing clinical guidance to patients and the multidisciplinary treatment team.
Essential Functions:

Practices the specialty of psychiatry within the scope of privileges in treating inpatient populations.

Maintains active medical staff status.

Works collaboratively with other physicians and clinical staff.

Interacts cooperatively with managed care companies.

Completes all documentation in the medical record according to Hospital guidelines.

Attends regularly scheduled Medical Staff meetings.

Participates in medical staff committees as appointed.

Supports the hospital's mission and vision statements, and promotes the welfare of the hospital.

Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the Chief Medical Officer and CEO.

Participates in teaching medical students and residents as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.

Provides clinical and professional supervision of Advanced Practices Nurses working in the hospital as assigned.
Essential Competencies:
-
Has extensive knowledge of the principles and practice of psychiatry, and the diagnosis and treatment of the mentally ill and chemically dependent patients.

Is able to work within the framework of hospital policies, procedures and the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited school of medicine with an MD or DO degree, currently licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Board Eligible or Certified physician with specialty in psychiatry

Exhibits proper certificates of malpractice insurance, Federal and State DEA and Mass Board of Registration in Medicine licensing, and successfully completes all appointment credentialing
Physical Criteria:

Must be able to walk short distances and climb stairways.
Reports to: Chief Medical Officer
Supervises: Supervises hospital staff as requested by Chief Medical Officer
