- Greet and welcome patients and visitors at the front desk of a medical office
- Answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate department or individual
- Schedule appointments and manage the appointment calendar
- Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays or payments
- Maintain patient records and ensure accuracy of medical information
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
- Assist with medical administrative support tasks as needed, such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth operations of the front desk area
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar role is preferred
- Proficient in using phone systems and handling multiple phone lines
- Knowledge of medical administrative support tasks and front desk operations
- Familiarity with medical records management and understanding of HIPAA regulations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors, and staff members
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain patient privacy
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
