Job description
Under the supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician is capable of performing the following duties: Prepare, count, label, package and dispense pharmaceuticals for Pharmacist approval. Inventory and restock emergency boxes. Receives, enters, processes and maintains orders in the computer system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Perform duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist. Areas of work are checked routinely for maintenance of quality control. Work is conducted in accordance with generally accepted standards of practice following departmental procedures and policies as outlined in the department operations manual.
2. Prepare in accordance pharmacy law and standards of pharmacy practice special drug compounds under direct supervision of licensed pharmacist. Maintain all related compounding records, prescription logs, and any other related files as determined by the pharmacy management.
3. Prepare, package and affix proper auxiliary labels in a timely basis in accordance with pharmacy law and standards of pharmacy practice to be dispensed after pharmacist approval.
4. Maintain strict attention to detail in prescription filling duties
5. Prepare simple drug compound under supervision of a pharmacist
6. Maintain productivity and accuracy standards set by department
7. Check and remove outdated medications on a routine basis to ensure that no deteriorated medications are in stock.
8. Maintain any pharmacy-related equipment and equipment rentals
9. Maintain a working knowledge of the specific pharmacy area/functions assigned to
10. Maintain neat, clean and organized workplace at all times to avoid contamination
11. Working knowledge of the computer operating system
12. Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer
13. Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients
14. Assist in resolving patient concerns and complaints
15. Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies
16. Participate in the pharmacy’s Performance Improvement program as requested
17. Abide by the company Drug Free Workplace policy. Drug screening is conducted at hire, or may be conducted company-wide, or on request upon reasonable suspicion.
18. Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum requirements include education and experience equivalent to completion of High School and pharmacy technician training.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be licensed as a pharmacy technician as required by state regulations.
- 1+ years previous experience as pharmacy technician preferred.
- Previous LTC experience a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology and brand/generic medications required.
- Must be capable of handling a high volume of work with accuracy and attention to detail.
SHIFT SCHEDULE:
Organization is 24 hours, schedules may vary.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
