Position Summary
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual that will join our team and work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager. This associate will assist in overseeing, directing, and coordinating to set up, adjust, and maintain equipment for production. This person will assist planning, developing, and implementing new methods and procedures to improve the maintaining of equipment. This position requires strong leadership skills and process development.
Required Qualifications
- Applicable technical certification a plus
- Food Manufacturing or packaging experience a plus
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
- Satisfactory work record, as determined by plant training committee.
- Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools.
Responsibilities
- Ensure “Safety First” is always practiced and observes and adheres to all job safety rules.
- Adhere to all safety procedures including: Machine Guarding, LOTO, IIPP, etc.
- Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, changes over equipment to new sizes or performs scheduled maintenance.
- Tests equipment to check operation. Clears jams and sets aside product for inspection and rework. Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
- Examines, tests, and measures product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and records data on appropriate forms. Checks product for visual defects.
- Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.
- Examines defects and analyzes spoilage causes and, where possible, takes corrective action. Analyzes and records cause of production delays on daily production report.
- Directs line operators and packers and service personnel, such as lift truck operators, in details of daily schedule, standard operating procedures, and requirements.
- Notifies maintenance department or supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed.
- Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned.
- May oil and grease equipment in absence of oiler and greaser.
- May operate equipment during relief periods.
- Abide by ALL Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SOPs
- Responsible for reporting Food Defense observations to Quality Teams
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
Physical Requirements/ Environment
- Repetitive lifting, push, pulling up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing walking, bending, twisting, lifting, climbing stairs
- Normal vision, hearing sensitivity and manual dexterity is necessary in position
