BMS is looking for a Qualified Maryland 1st Class Chief Engineer Unlimited Team Pressure, ASOPE 1st Class Power Plant Operating Engineer, or NIUPLE 1st Class Power Engineer Stationary Engineer Boiler Operator to join our team in Washington, DC. As a Stationary Engineer Boiler Operator, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of High-Pressure Steam Boilers and work on scheduled rotational shifts. Must be a US Citizen. Hours: Rotating Schedule Engineer - First Operator Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain boilers, incinerators, and associated equipment
- Make periodic tours of assigned equipment and systems within the Power Plant recording required data
- Monitor the Water Treatment program for Central Plant
- Monitor and execute the Lock-Out/Tag-Out Program
- Report all faults, deficiencies, and unusual occurrences to the Watch Chief
- Respond to emergency situations on assigned equipment, performing all tasks necessary for the protection of property and personnel
- Assume all responsibilities and duties of the Operator as required
- Direct Second Operator when authorized by Watch Chief
- Perform other job-related work as required
- Monitor and operate assigned control systems Minimum Requirements:
- Five (5) years experience in commercial/industrial operations.
- Must possess Maryland 1st Class Chief Engineer Unlimited Team Pressure, ASOPE 1st Class Power Plant Operating Engineer, or NIUPLE 1st Class Power Engineer
- Must possess universal EPA or CFC certification
- High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required
- Able to read and interpret blueprints
- Working knowledge of piping systems
- Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions
- Must work scheduled rotational shifts, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends if needed
- Must be a US Citizen
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems and High Steam Boilers
- Ability to write correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Have basic computer skills
- Formalized training in Stationary Engineering or related crafts
