Primary Description
The Senior Lighting Technician is responsible for training and leading the Lighting Team to meet high quality standards in a collaborative tech culture. In addition to lighting tasks, such as programming and maintenance, this role involves project management and coordination, partnering with other departments to support their goals, and some administrative tasks.
Status: Full-time 40 hours/week/Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Supervisory Role: Yes
Remote Work: >90% on-site; <10% remote

Responsibilities
- Lead the team to design and program lighting for services occurring in the main Sanctuary; requires collaboration with creative director and video department.
- Train lighting team on design principles and discipline-specific skill set.
- Participate in planning and execution of special events.
- Partner with the Video Department to manage video wall content and, down the road, team up on LED video wall setup and maintenance.
- Willingness to learn Northland's production systems and processes and open to providing and receiving input on effectiveness and upgrades as needed.
- Hang and focus conventional and moving fixtures as needed.
- Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on campus-wide equipment (changing lamps, cleaning filters, replacing gobos, etc.).
- Maintain up-to-date inventory of all fixtures and necessary parts (lamps, cables, safety cables, c clamps, etc.).
- Contract and coordinate larger repairs with external vendors.
- Assist with staging duties, including strikes and resets.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Credentials (Educational & Professional Requirements)
· EXPERIENCE:
o Minimum 2 years of experience in professional production or large church setting.
o Familiar with lighting control systems, including network-based lighting, board operation, and good programming practices.
o Knowledge of rigging and safety procedures is desirable.
o Experience lighting for broadcast video is desirable.
· EDUCATIONAL:
o Bachelor's Degree in production or a related field is preferred, but not required.
· LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
o Laser Safety Officer (LSO) Certification For Class 4 laser operation desirable, but not required.
· SYSTEM/SOFTWARE:
o Advanced knowledge of grandMA2 and MA on PC systems required.
o Experience with Vectorworks preferred.
o Familiar with Google Suite software (Sheets, Slides, Docs, etc).
o Knowledge of both Moving and Conventional fixtures.
o Understanding of DMX and Ethernet-based control systems.
· PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:
o Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
o 12-16 hour work days occur on occasion with special events.
o Ability to plan and organize multiple projects at one time.
o Prolonged periods of working at a computer or console are required.
o Must be comfortable working in a catwalk and at heights over 20’ regularly.

Pay: $52,000.00 per year
