FULL-TIME: RURAL HEALTH & GASTRO CLINICS
JOB SUMMARY:
Nurse practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses who work autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-focused care. They are responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for patients in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status). Person in this position will perform the important task of educating patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments. They may also conduct physicals, order tests, serve as a patient's primary healthcare provider, and able to prescribe medications. Clinical management is conducted in collaboration with other health care team members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of this job description include but are not limited to:

· Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
· Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
· Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
· Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
· Assists with the provision of surgical care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
· Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
· Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
· Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
· Facilitates staff, patient, and family decision making by providing educational tools.
· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
· Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
· Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel.
· Maintains current competency in nursing specialty by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
· Functions as a contributing team member & communicates effectively with all levels of people.
· Promotes positive public relations to physicians, patients, visitors, other employees, and the community.
· Confidentiality – Maintain patient, team member and employer confidentiality. Comply with all HIPAA regulations.
· Provides for patients’/significant others’ rights and safety; strives to manage situations in a manner to reduce risk while following legal and regulatory standards.
· Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost conscious manner, complying with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Ø Bachelor’s Degree in Registered Nursing; Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner
Ø 2-5 years of Clinical/Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
Ø Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
Ø Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area
Ø Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Ø Possess advanced clinical skills and problem solving management skills
Ø Possess knowledge of prescription medications and their applications.
Ø Knowledge of all laws pertaining to the prescribing and dispensing of medication
Ø Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Ø Understands the scope of practice for RNs, LPNs, MAs and unlicensed personnel
Ø Ability to:
o determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations
o work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude
o manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
o maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information
