The Compensation Specialist will research job requirements and evaluate job positions to ensure the company is competitive in the areas of salaries and employee benefits. The Compensation Specialist provides position design consultation, position classification, FLSA designation, and compensation analyses. The Compensation Specialist will perform compensation analysis and administration of compensation programs. The incumbent will manage salary administration for assigned divisions, conduct classification and job reviews, participate in compensation surveys, and conduct market and other relevant data analysis.
This role will partner with the HR Management and Talent Acquisition teams to provide analysis around compensation-related questions; assist with continued development and implementation of job architecture and maintain the company compensation program. This Compensation Specialist will play a key role in assisting to enforce the evolving Company's compensation philosophy and programs to attract and retain talent. This position conducts all responsibilities with the highest degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
HOURS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Monday Friday 8 am 5 pm, Hybrid Schedule 3 days in office
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.

Interviews and surveys employees and managers to gather and document job, organizational, and occupational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job.

Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.

Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.

Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales.

Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.

Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.

Evaluates and implements job analysis instruments and materials.

Conducts data and cost analyses to be used in employee negotiations.

Conducts focus groups to collect employee feedback on specific issues or topics related to benefits and compensation.

Plans and communicates preferred methods and best practices for compensating and evaluating employees.

Advises HR management on applicable state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, and human resource procedures.
- Maintains integrity of internal job architecture by facilitating adequate internal and market research to support recommended job alignment to career streams, levels and salary grades.

Conducts ad-hoc benchmarking and internal equity analysis.
- Performs market analysis to identify competitive practices and trends and provides recommendations to address areas of concern or risk.
- Maintains accuracy and integrity of job documentation related databases.
- Routinely updates tables for job codes, job descriptions, and job families.

Creates new jobs in collaboration with business leaders: Provides consultation and guidance to ensure accurate representation of responsibilities and requirements and alignment to the job architecture.

Completes bonus plan review and incentive eligibility record-keeping.
- Completes annual salary surveys and results review to address market competitiveness, summarizing results for HR leadership team.

Creates efficiencies in departments routine and cyclical processes to increase productivity and quality of departments output.

Participates in ad-hoc projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, finance, or related field.

REQUIRED: Minimum of Two (2) years of experience as a compensation specialist/ analyst.

REQUIRED: Experience in the administration of compensation policies and programs.

Knowledge and intermediate to advanced proficiency performing Microsoft Excel VLOOKUPs, IF/THEN statements and MATCH formulas required.

REQUIRED: Advanced proficiency in performing data review and analytics, with keen attention to detail for accuracy.

Proficient in the use of HRIS strongly preferred.

PREFERRED: Demonstrated knowledge and intermediate proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain a Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.

Liability insurance is required if an employee will operate a personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.
