Job Qualifications:
- A minimum educational requirement of at least a high school diploma or GED.
- One year or more assisted living or long term care experience, preferable with resident care. Must have computer skills, including publisher and excel.
- Must have at least one-year supervisory experience with emphasis on customer service, teambuilding and communication.
- Responsible for learning and adhering to the facilities policies and procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining a professional working relationship with all residents, families, department manager, staff, visitors, regulators, and inspectors.
- Ability to deal positively and effectively with employees, residents, and resident families during conflicts or stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain a courteous and professional attitude, at all times.
- MUST possess, or receive, within 6 months of hire, a 48 hour state approved Activity Director Certification.
General Health Requirements:
It is the policy of Terrace Ridge Assisted Living to require a two-step TB (tuberculin) test; the 1stTST to be administered up to 90-days prior to employment, the 2ndTST within 4-weeks of hire. The 2ndstep TB testing will be provided by the facility’s contracted RN. (See Rule 15A NCAC 19A .0205 – TB Control Branch of the State Division of Epidemiology).
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching above head, grasping, pushing, and pulling. Can distinguish smells, can hear normal and soft tones, and can distinguish temperatures by touch/proximity.
- Have normal/corrected eyesight, able to perform close eye work.
- Can speak and write English, is oriented with reality, can control emotions, has a positive attitude toward the elderly and the handicapped with the ability to handle stressful situations.
Basic Function:
Purpose: Development and coordination of activities designed to promote the residents active involvement with each other, their families, and the community.
Effectively communicate and assist all department managers, residents, families, and staff in matters relating to responsibilities, duties and tasks as outlined below. Communicate with and keep the facility Administrator advised in all matters relating to activities.
Basic Responsibilities:
· Must be able to plan, coordinate, and conduct meaningful resident activities in accordance with NCDHHS regulations
· Responsible for developing the monthly activity calendar in accordance with NCDHHS rules and regulations and post in large print. Calendar must be posted in a prominent location on or by the first day of the month. Revisions to the calendar must also be posted. Calendar must include social & recreational, diversional & intellectual, and work-type & volunteer activities
· Must be able to work independently through effective time management
· Maintain inventory and purchase supplies within the facility’s allotted budget guidelines.
· Assist and provide guidance to all staff in reference to Resident’s Rights.
· Maintain a positive, energetic attitude
· Maintain resident confidentiality
· Responsible for the recruitment and retention of Volunteers.
· Ability to maintain organized, timely required daily documentation and conduct an evaluation of the overall effectiveness of the activities program at least once every 6 months.
· To effectively communicate and provide support to all Department Managers and Administrator, as needed
· To effectively communicate and provide assistance to residents, families, staff members, and the general public through a compassionate and understanding approach
· Assist all staff with maintaining a peaceful, positive environment
· Must be highly organized, with the ability to successfully multi-task
· Responsible for decorating for Holidays and conducting activities that may engage staff members to participate
· Expected to “lead by example” in relation to professionalism and abiding by facility and licensure policy and procedures
· Responsible for knowing and following accident/incident policies, fire safety, OSHA, emergency procedures and safety and sanitation regulations.
· Responsible for coordinating resident and family events, such as, annual Resident Christmas Party
· To assist with answering the phone so that calls are answered no later than the fifth ring
· To serve on the QI/Safety Committee
· Perform other related duties as assigned by the Administrator

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
