The Maintenance Helper performs mainly as anassistant of mechanics and engineers in the completion of the overhaul maintenance activities on airport automated people mover (APM) systems within the limitations of standard methods and procedures. The Maintenance Helper will receive general supervision and guidance from the mechanics and engineers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assists mechanics by delivering part/equipment, washing and cleaning units, repairing of mechanical and electrical component and other equipment in assigned properties.
· Clean jobsites and prepare for upcoming jobs.
· Take care and custody of issued tools and equipment and assists with the maintenance and organization of tools, parts and supplies inventories.
· Ensures that required documentation, operating logs, and maintenance forms are completed accurately and clearly and are maintained in Company Compliance Books, paper files, and electronic data/filing systems.
· Performs other duties and completes special projects as assigned; and carries out all tasks assigned by managers and supervisors in an efficient and timely manner.
Other duties may include:
· Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify supervisor/manager of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
· Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Tools and Equipment used:
Power tools and hand tools necessary to perform electro-mechanical and maintenance services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability required:
- Possesses basic knowledge of hand and small power tools, familiarity with machinery and fundamentals of electricity is desired.
- Able to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
- General knowledge of safe work practices.
- General capability with the operation of a PC and mobile communication devices, including Internet browsers.
· Must be licensed to operate a motor vehicle, and have a satisfactory driving record.
· Ability to read, write, speak and understand English language fluently.
- Must be reliable, dependable, and have schedule flexibility to respond to meet business needs. This position is required to work all shift, overtime, weekend and holiday on a scheduled, short-notice or emergency basis.
Education:
· High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
