SUMMARY: The Estimator Assistant will support the efforts of Caliber Construction to submit completed bids on time in attempts to be awarded each project. This position requires the individual to offer any support required to help estimators, work independently, and demonstrate time organization skills to accomplish the work within deadlines. The Estimating Assistant must also be familiar with all construction vocabulary, methods of various construction types and possess good written and verbal communication skills. Individuals will typically require daily direction from estimators, senior estimators or senior management. Individuals must exhibit significant general characteristics including but not limited to work ethic, observation, enthusiasm and sense of urgency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Send project plans and bid info to assigned subcontractors at the direction of estimators.
- Receive and check bid documents for completeness.
- Manage estimating software & update subcontractor database.
- Collect and track sub bids by due date and time. Make follow up phone calls to ensure subcontractors submit project bids on time.
- Track RFI’s and distribute to appropriate trades for review
- Maintain and ensure plotter and printers are functioning correctly.
- Support Project Planning in the Proposal Phase
- Support Project Planning in the Post-Award Phase
- Complete clerical request forms generated from Estimators, Project Engineers (design), and Senior Estimator
- Perform additional responsibilities, as directed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE:
- 2-year college degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and good organizational skills
- Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- AutoCAD experience preferred
- Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
- Job may require periodic travel to job sites
- Experience in construction-related field preferred
- Must have good time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Must work well in a team environment
- Report to work at 7:30 a.m. promptly with regular attendance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
