Description
Under direction of the Director of Information Technology, this position provides level-1 technical support to Rockwall Police/Fire departments. This support will include installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of personal computer and related software/hardware including in car technology equipment. Support will also include the City Radio System. Activities include research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up. This position will also support Fate DPS and Heath DPS relative to New World Public Safety application and the radio system.
Examples of Essential Functions
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Police/Fire records, mobile, CAD enterprise software suites, in-car video recording system, body worn cameras, mobile laptops, VPN applications/servers, desktop computers, general computer hardware and software problems. Also, will support Microsoft Hyper-V virtual desktops, printers, and IP phone systems.
Create, manage, and disable user accounts in Microsoft Active Directory and public safety enterprise security applications. Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory. Level-1 helpdesk contact for employee computer related questions and problems. Assist employees with computer related questions and problems to enhance their knowledge and efficient uses of the City’s computer network and resources.
Required to report for work punctually, work all scheduled hours. Must maintain a physical condition and standards necessary for the proper performance of duties, with or without accommodation. Ability to work outside of normal business hours when required.

Education and Experience
Associate’s degree in IT or related field and/or 2-3 years’ experience that provides broad knowledge of computer, server and network systems is preferred. Ability to pass extensive background check. Prefer basic law enforcement knowledge and experience.

Physical Requirements:
Tasks are essentially sedentary, with occasional walking, bending, light lifting, or other restricted physical activities.
Tasks involve some physical effort, i.e., some standing and walking, or frequent light lifting (5-10 pounds); or minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of shop or office equipment; may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Tasks involve frequent walking, standing; some lifting and carrying of moderate weight (12-20 pounds); and/or the operation of vehicles, office, shop, or hand tools in which manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination are important ingredients of safe and/or productive operations.
