MEASUREMENT TECHNICIAN ASSISTANT - JOB DESCRIPTION
General Job Summary
This is a technical position dealing with liquid custody transfer measurement in pipeline and refined products marketing terminals in the Permian Basin area of operation. The Measurement Technician will be responsible for mobile meter proving services and the improvement of measurement performance and predictability for
AIM’s customers. The Measurement Technician will work closely with AIM’s Liquid Measurement Supervisor, customer’s field operations team and other personnel involved in liquid custody transfer measurement.
Major Job Tasks
- Assist in Performing meter proving tasks on Coriolis, P.D., and Turbine meters. (60%)
- Assist in Audit and evaluating measurement practices of third party custody transfer locations for compliance. (5%)
- Drive long distances on occasion, encountering inclement weather and adverse conditions. Make repairs and/or measurements in the field under adverse conditions, sometimes after normal business hours

- Maintain a safe work environment by following company policy including, safety, regulatory, P.P.E.,
H2S, explosive atmospheres, and grounding/bonding. (5%)
- Ensure measurement and quality control practices are in compliance pertaining to custody measurement, device calibrations and product quality assurance. (5%)
- Ensure prover calibrations and meter proves are conducted according to procedure and other contractual obligations. (5%)
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. (5%)
- Assist with Troubleshooting and identify issues with LACT and metering systems. (5%)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of API Standards and RPs related to Meter Proving, Volume Correction,
Meter and Tank Measurement, and Crude Oil Custody Transfer
- Knowledge of crude oil custody transfer procedures; sampling, centrifuge operation, density and temperature obtained via hydrometer, and ticket writing
- Proficient in MS Office for data analysis, reporting and document writing
- Proficient at operating bi-directional ball, small volume meter prover, or master meter proving applications.
- Familiar with Coriolis, P.D., and turbine meters, incorporating proving software, as well as cross referencing all corrections by hand
- Ability to do calculation routines and verification of flow computers
- Knowledge of temperature and pressure corrections and how they affect final factor
- Written communication skill to fill out routine forms and records
- Oral communication skill to give, receives, or exchange information with co-workers
- Excellent Interpersonal communication skill to work effectively with others in order to coordinate activities and complete assigned tasks
- Ability to follow all company policies including, safety, regulatory, P.PE., H2S, explosive atmospheres, grounding/bonding, etc.
- Ability to follow specific, step-by-step instructions, standard procedures, and operating guidelines
- Ability to work effectively without supervisory guidance
- Proficient using test equipment (i.e. digital multimeter, analog tester, function generator, etc.)
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 2-4 Years of field/production measurement or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. We will provide on-the-job and classroom training to the right candidate
- Military experience a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $36.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
