Position Summary
The Respiratory Therapist we’re seeking will be a patient advocate and work diligently for their adherence to therapy. The position will help customers with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) equipment and supplies in an efficient and friendly manner – working directly with physicians and referral sources, customers, employees, and management staff – providing the highest quality of products and services, while adhering to all legal, industry, and company standards.
This posting is very flexible for a full-time position. We’re actively looking for a dependable candidate to work within the Monday-Friday work week – with no on-call, no weekends, and little-to-no expectation for overtime, 4 - 10 hr shifts and every other Friday off. Position Responsibilities
-
Conduct patient setups by dispensing respiratory equipment, including appropriate mask fittings and supplies.

Follow prescribed orders, and dispense appropriate respiratory equipment to fit patient’s needs.

Work with hospital/clinical staff in order to provide customer’s adequate prescription(s), developing rapport with all different referrals and staffing.

Conduct follow-up with customers and physicians regarding use/adherence to equipment.

Maintain customer charts with adequate information and notes.
-
Test equipment to make sure equipment is safe and operable. Coordinate equipment repairs and/or warranty replacements as necessary.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels and order as necessary.

Conduct in-service education to hospital staff, discharging patients, and appropriate personnel in regard to respiratory equipment being ordered prior to discharge. (If RT)

Conduct oxygen assessments, based on physician request and permission, to assist in customer portability and/or longevity. Assist customers, and coordinating staff, to decide on proper, healthy, and most beneficial equipment. (If RT)

Handle customer issues with a courteous, calm, timely, and professional demeanor – maintaining their interests as the highest priority.

Follow all legal and company standards: HIPAA, safety, security, breaks, and lunches.

Produce quality work in a prompt and timely manner.

Work well with the team, building a strong work environment with open communication and a positive attitude.

Work independently of supervision.

Maintain all credentialing in order to meet licensing requirements, and work with management for time/opportunities to get needed CEU hours.

Keep abreast of and in front of technological advances in the field.

Physical Demands
-
Ability to lift/push/pull 35lbs 2 times in a row. Lifting from floor to counter. Push/pull 50 lbs on a hand cart.

Walking, lifting, reaching, stooping, etc., with or without the use of assistive/adaptive devices.

A physical examination completed at the time of employment with a physician’s statement of the employee’s ability to perform the duties of the job is provided and required.
Work Environment
-
The employee will perform the duties of the job in a retail store setting during employed hours.

The ambient noise level in this environment is generally low to moderate.
Education Requirements
The Professional Licensing Division for the State of Iowa has very specific criteria mandates for a position such as this and does require a Licensed Clinician for a portion of the job requirement. Therefore:

High school graduate or equivalent
-
Licensed Health Care Provider (RRT, CRT, LPN, RN) – completion of an approved school for Health Care (or)

Licensed Health Care Provider (RPSGT, RST) - completion of an approved school for Health Care
Experience Requirement
-
Proficient in using technology and software applications, possessing a working knowledge of common office equipment.

Excellent communication skills – in person and telephone, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to communicate clearly in the English language, both orally and in writing.

Ability to present information and respond to questions from management, physicians, customers, and the general public.

Excellent customer service skills and the willingness to work with customers to answer questions as needed.

Organizational skills necessary to manage several projects simultaneously, and the ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and the community at large.

Ability to type with minimal error.
Desired Qualifications
-
Knowledge of the respiratory Home Medical Equipment (DME) - CPAP specifically
-
Brightree billing/operating software experience a plus
-
Experience in cash handling
-
Experience working with insurance benefits and physician’s offices is highly desirable

Experience in a retail environment
