This is clerical work in processing incoming and outgoing mail.
NATURE AND VARIETY OF WORK
Work involves the responsibility for carrying mail, messages, documents, and other material from one location to another, and involves the use of automotive equipment. Work includes sorting, sealing, weighing, stamping, and preparing for mailing letters, packages, and related materials. Work is performed with some independence within established policies, procedures, and federal postal regulations, and is reviewed by a superior through observation of quality of services rendered.

Picks up, sorts, and prepares incoming letters and packages for delivery.
Sorts, seals, weighs, applies proper postage, and otherwise prepares for mailing letters, packages, and related materials.
Delivers mail, documents, office communications, office supplies, and related materials; drives mail van on deliveries.
Operates postage meter, scales, mail inserters, and various other mailroom and standard office equipment.
Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports.
Performs related work as required.

Ability to learn mailroom duties and the operation of mailroom equipment.
Ability to learn and follow post office rules and regulations.
Ability to make routine arithmetic calculations.
