Children’s Academy is looking for a Speech-Language Pathologist, CCC-SLP. (Strong Clinical Fellows will also be considered).
Children’s Academy is a private K-12th grade school for children with speech-language impairments and other global developmental delays. The SLP's job responsibilities are listed as follows:
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid License as a Speech-Language Pathologist in New York
- School experience preferred
- Maintain a clear criminal record
- Exhibit superior organizational skills
Speech Language Pathologists at Children’s Academy report to the Director of Speech Pathology and work closely with their appointed classroom as part of an interdisciplinary team. She/He participates in the development, administration and management of individualized speech programs for the students in their class, including evaluation, planning, development, and delivery of clinical services in individual and group settings, selection of materials, maintenance of accreditation, and commitment ethics and ongoing professional development.
Responsibilities Include:
- Observe and assess all students’ speech and language needs on an on-going basis
- Create comprehensive individualized treatment plan for individual students on caseload
- Treat students individually for speech and language needs including but not limited to receptive language, expressive language, speech/articulation, AAC, oral motor issues, pragmatic language, schematic play, voice/fluency, feeding, etc.
- Write comprehensive reports including:
- Initial evaluations as needed (for new students)
- Mid-year progress reports
- Final end of year evaluations
- Speech group/class related content information for academic classroom reports
- Create IEP goals including:
- Individual speech goals
- Group social skills/schematic play goals
- English Language Arts related speech and language goals
- Collaborate with grade level and classroom staff as part of interdisciplinary team
- Lead/Co-lead language arts/ELA group/class
- Collaborate with ELA/language arts teachers on a weekly basis
- Lead/Co-lead literacy/writing group/class
- Collaborate with writing/literacy teachers on a weekly basis
- Lead/Co-Lead “centers”/social skills group
- Collaborate with co-lead SLPs on a weekly basis
- Administer language, speech and other communication or oral motor protocols as required
