Metric Engineering is looking to hire a Full-Time Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Professional in Florida to work on-site and support the Florida Department of Transportation with TIM. The position would require serving as a champion in the development of multi-agency collaborative TIM responses. Full or partial relocation expenses will be paid for the right candidate, if required.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Establishing regional stakeholder relationships through continued outreach and coordination.
- Serve as a liaison between other federal, state, and local agencies in coordination of TIM related plans and services.
- Actively collaborate on incident response plans, traffic management strategies, and necessary program enhancements to ensure the smooth flow of traffic systems management information and coordination during critical events.
- Provide technical expertise and training on incident response and congestion management.
- Emergency responsibilities may require 24/7 on-call response to major incidents.
- Routinely audit and edit the incident response program’s standard operating procedures.
- Actively monitoring third party websites for incident-related information including agency active call websites, Pulsepoint, Google maps/Waze, etc.
- Provide operational support by assisting with event management as needed.
- Provide Emergency Operations Center (EOC) support, as deemed necessary, for large scale incidents such as hurricane evacuations and recovery efforts.
- Conduct after-action reviews and coordinate with agencies for debriefing.
- Run and/or prepare TIM reports including performance measures related to TIM, RISC events, Road Rangers, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 years as a Traffic Incident Management Professional, or a minimum of four or more years of experience while employed by an agency or firm that regularly responds to traffic incidents, operates or manages traffic management centers, provides maintenance and traffic control services for roadways and traffic incidents, or provides towing or clean-up services for major traffic incidents.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to coordinate, in real-time, with first responders at scene of incidents
- Skilled in proper MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) and safety
- Good communication skills and ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to write technical reports and correspondence.
- Ability to coordinate real-time activities and priorities.
- Ability to make and give presentations on incident management to state and local officials.
- Ability to perform outreach on behalf of Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Teams to first responders.
- Skilled in the use of Windows operating system.
- Conceptual understanding of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
- Experience in managing incident response, applying judgment and decision-making, and limiting departmental risk
