As a MDS Coordinator, you will be responsible for the coordination of the complete Resident Assessment Instrument process as well as reviewing and monitoring this process. You will develop and maintain positive relationships with our patients, guests, other team members, and medical staff by striving for excellence in service and quality. Position Details:
- As needed; 0.1 FTE; Exempt
- 8-hour shifts
You will be responsible for:
- Coordinating the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, reviewing pre-admission screening information to determine the potential Resource Utilization Groups (RUGs) level and the skilled care needs as needed.
- Reviewing monthly billing for current minimum data set (MDS) for proper billing with billing office staff, and updating the billing codes on an ongoing basis.
- Ensuring that the MDS is started in a timely fashion by all staff assigned to the tasks and enters care plans and CNA smart charting data into electronic heath record.
- Reviewing completed MDS to determine if the required data has been entered by specific disciplines. Attending care plan meetings.
- Reviewing data to calculate the specific category that identified the patient by converting MDS information to RUGs III using the program for such, assists with Recover Audit Contractor (RAC) audits, and adjusting assessment reference date (ARD) to capture ongoing care and during Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program “SNAP” dates.
- Identifying timelines for care area assessment (CAA) completion, reviewing information to ensure that all CAAs are completed by specific disciplines, and all other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrating accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion.
What you will need:
- Graduate of accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred.
- Current RN license to practice in the State of Georgia
- Possess significant competencies in the area of assessment of the geriatric population, knowledge of the HCFA admission skilled criteria, documentation guidelines to support the skilled needs, and well versed in the RAI process is required.
- MDS date computerized transmission, understanding of the Resource Utilization Groups and its impact on the Prospective Payment System is preferred.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification is required.
