Requirements:
- Requires an RCP license.
- Requires current BLS card
- Must have good public relation skills and interact with people well.
- Good computer skills are necessary.
- Previous Respiratory Therapy experience preferred.
- Excellent motivation skills.
- Must be able to assist other staff when problems and/or questions arise.
- Must be able to work any shift, including weekends and holidays.
- Must maintain patient confidentiality and information per policy and procedures.
- Must be dependable, trustworthy, and flexible.
Description:
- Performs all respiratory procedures per physician's orders.
- Maintains patent airways and performs appropriate bronchial hygiene techniques.
- Charts and documents procedures according to department policy.
- Performs necessary oxygen rounds and replaces supplies as needed.
- Disassembles, cleans and re-assembles Respiratory Therapy equipment.
- Provide the hospital with high quality respiratory care for inpatients and outpatients according to hospital, state, and federal regulations.
- Establishes & maintains patent airway & administers appropriate bronchial hygiene.
- Performs all RT procedures (nebulizer, CPT, IS, respiratory parameters, BiPap, ET CO2, O2 set up and maintenance, etc.)
- Charts and documents procedures performed.
- Responds to Code Blue and assists with airway management & CPR.
- Performs necessary patient oxygen rounds (including the application of proper equipment for all age groups).
- Performs pulse oximetry assessments on all age groups.
- Mixes and administers medication used in RT (includes proper calculation of medication for infant and pediatric patients).
- Uses and maintains portable oxygen equipment, cylinders and regulators per departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs 12 lead ECGs per departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs Holter Monitor per departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs Cardiac stress per departmental policies and procedures
- Responsible for maintaining and obtaining medications from Pharmacy.
- Responsible for keeping the department clean and orderly.
- Responsible for keeping the equipment clean.
- Responsible for stocking and cleaning RT cart daily.
- Responsible for stocking and cleaning ECG cart daily.
- Responsible for checking medications for outdates.
- Responsible for checking and documenting oxygen tank pressures in ER.
- Included in the on-call rotation for the RT department.
