The Health Information Management Analyst is responsible for analyzing patient visits after discharge, entering any provider deficiencies into the EHR that are needed to complete the documentation for the encounter. Answering incoming calls, assists with release of information and scanning of patient records as needed.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent. Courses in Health Information or Medical Office preferred.
- Medical Records or physician office medical record clerk experience preferred.
- Comfortable with computer applications.
- Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated time management skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
- Ability to be flexible and demonstrated ability to be adaptable.
- Can operate a computer, copy machine, 10-key, phone, and fax efficiently.
- Performs discharge analysis on all charts to ensure presence of required reports and provider signatures. Incomplete records are routed to appropriate personnel for completion. Notifies providers of incomplete charts.
- Scans all discharged charts per chart order, all loose sheets, documentation from outside facilities into the computer per department protocol.
- Completes workers compensation form and sends to appropriate agency.
- Responsible for release of information. Verify legality of requests for health information while conforming with all applicable state, federal, and hospital requirements. Maintains strict confidentiality of all patient records and information.
- Knowledgeable in the use of all office equipment and computers in HIM department.
- Able to work under stress, maintain professional demeanor.
- Merge duplicate medical records.
- Provides Administrative assistance as necessary to Revenue Cycle Director and other tasks as assigned.
- Assists HIM Clerk with scanning as time permits.
