DEPARTMENT: Recreation Programs, Events, Administration
EFFECTIVE: March 2024
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of various recreational programs, activities, and facilities. Work closely with staff and volunteers in support of community recreational plans and objectives and as directed.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Responsible for the maintenance of recreational facilities by identifying, reporting, and following up on maintenance and housekeeping issues as they arise to
ensure that amenities remain clean, well maintained and adequately stocked
with needed products and supplies.
2. Coordinate and schedule all requests for community room and equipment rentals, reservations, meetings, and events, including set-up, break-down, billing and post event inspections.
3. Ensure all recreation equipment is adequately maintained and stored securely in a proper storage facility.
4. Fill in as a Lifeguard if certified, Fitness Center Attendant or any other staff position(s) as may be required due to vacancies, vacations, schedule conflicts, lack of qualified staff or other reasons as needed.
5. Responsible for the seasonal planning, procurement, preparation and break-down for community programs and events (e.g. Community Day, holiday themed gatherings, meetings, and social/civic events, etc.).
6. Responsible for assisting with the seasonal operations of the Summer Camp, Ski Shop and ad hoc event planning.
7. Open and close facilities as needed.
8. Assist with other duties as directed.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
1. High School graduate or equivalent
2. Must be willing to maintain American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding and CPR if applicable; Training offered in house.
- Must adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands.
- Ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed inside and outside with exposure to inclement weather.
- Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear and smell.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, at times loud when operating equipment.
SAFETY HAZARDS OF THE JOB:
1. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
2. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
3. Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
