Arizona Eye Specialists is a busy, valley-wide Ophthalmology practice proudly serving our Patients since 1953! Our Phoenix and Scottsdale Location are seeking an experienced, flexible Ophthalmic Technician who is willing to work with an oculoplastics physician and other physicians as needed. We're looking for a team-oriented Technician; one with high integrity, excellent work ethic, and a great attitude.
Job requirements include:
- Two years of previous experience in patient work-up, tonometry, refractions, A-scans, and minor surgery.
- PC proficiency and good organizational skills.
- Flexibility when requested to travel.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma (or equivalent) preferred.
- Two to five years experience as an Ophthalmic Technician/Assistant.
- Oculoplastics experience preferred.
- COA/COT preferred.

- Basic understanding of optics and the ability to perform refractometry.

Responsibilities
- Interacts with all patients using a level of respect and professionalism.
- Informs patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed, and how the patient will be affected during the tests.
- Obtains patient history including chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications.
- Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks to include Visual acuity, Manual lensometry, Confrontational visual fields, Stereo testing, Evaluation of motility, Pupillary function tests, Color plates, Applanation tonometry, Refractometry, Angle assessment, Dilation of pupils, Contact lens evaluations, Visual field testing, Optic nerve scanning (i.e. OCT, HRT, GDx), Pachymetry, Corneal topography, and other tasks specific to the physician’s needs as a result of new technologies.
- Assist with patient triage, correspondence, and feedback.
- Maintains a smooth flow of patients to the physician, and alters the test sequence as required.
- Confirm patients’ appointments by phone two business days in advance.
- Maintains cleanliness in exam and procedure rooms.
- Maintains backup levels of stock in exam and procedure rooms.
- Performs other duties as required.
