Job description
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced medical assistant to join our team of healthcare professionals (contract for professional services). As a medical assistant, you will be responsible for providing quality patient care in a compassionate and supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with hospice physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive medical care to hospice patients.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and evaluations, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and developing a plan of care in consultation with the palliative care physician.
- Manage patients' pain and symptoms according to palliative care protocols.
- Communicate with patients and their families about care plans, goals of care, and end-of-life decisions.
- Provide education to patients and their families about palliative care and symptom management.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in on-call and after-hours care as needed.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current PA license in state
- Board Certification as a Medical Assistant
- At least 2 years of experience in palliative care, palliative care or a related field preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of end-of-life care.
- Ability to work with patients and families who are experiencing physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges.
- Comply with all required documents
