Status: Part-Time Contracted
Training: Onboarding orientation & info night (August/September 2024)

Position Summary:
The purpose of the Aquí Jugamos Youth Program Instructor position is to have a passionate and collaborative leader who will lead our instructional, behavioral and administrative tasks to help excel LAUP’s mission and vision forward. Aquí Jugamos is an unstructured play program that meets once a week weekly at Holland West Elementary school, helping foster and encourage peer-to-peer bonding, cultural enrichment, physical and mental health, and problem-solving skills while giving kids time away from technology, reducing child screen time. This person will have the privilege of building strong relationships with Holland Public Schools (HPS) elementary students and HPS staff. The ideal person is energetic, organized, playful, adaptable, resilient, and a positive role model. This individual must also be comfortable working with students from an array of behavioral issues.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Aquí Jugamos Youth Program Instructor leads and supports LAUP Youth Development Programs and will report to the Director of Youth Programs & Advancement but will be overseen by LAUP's Case Manager. The position will require the instructor to supervise and manage a group of 1st-5th grade students at Holland West Elementary in unstructured play through board games, nap time, outdoor playground, group activities, coloring, and anything else the instructor sees fit or engaging. The instructor will also be supported by a program volunteer as additional program support.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Instructor commits to work a minimum of (2) hours per week and up to (5) hours as needed for late parent pick-ups, or administrative/email tasks when incident reports and suspension letters need to be issued to LAUP's Case Manager.
● Instructor will lead with their own style and create an engaging and positive environment in which students are actively engaged in the unstructured play process
● Instructor will have students abide and follow the play program rules provided by LAUP's Case Manager
● Instructor will be punctual for all scheduled sessions. It is your responsibility to notify the Case Manager if unable to attend the classroom session due to sickness or for any reason at least 24 hours in advance or as soon as possible.
● Instructor will report to LAUP's Office Manager when program snacks or supplies are low
● Instructor is expected to honor students and families with respect, honesty, dignity, and fairness
Requirements
● High School Diploma or GED equivalent
● Fluent in English (Required); Bilingual Spanish/English (Preferred)
● Reliable transportation

Classification: Part Time Contracted (2-5 hours per week)
Reports to: Director of Youth Programs & Advancement and Supervised/Overseen by Case Manager
Salary: ($20/hr)
Schedule: At the moment, schedule is weekly on Wednesdays from 2:30-4:30pm
Review Process - 90 day review, 6 month review and annual review. Continued biweekly check-ins with Case Manager and monthly check-ins with Director of Youth.
