Job Summary
The Employee Benefits Account Manager serves as the primary service contact for the members and is responsible for member satisfaction including marketing and analytical support. This position is expected to consistently provide excellent customer service to members, as well as represent needs and goals within the organization to ensure quality.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Acts as the primary contact between members and insurance carriers providing customer service which includes open and clear communication channels with members and account executives. Ensures accurate and timely responses occur between all parties.
- Demonstrates strategic thinking and innovation based on insurance, market, carrier, and product knowledge, to help guide the current members through the complexities of health care and employee benefits.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with members, vendors, and carrier partners.
- Develops solid understanding of benefit programs and renewal strategies and to assist in and drive solutions to address complex member issues.
- Initiates the marketing process which includes obtaining member census and quotes, preparing, and submitting bid specifications and working with the account executive team in evaluating the results and preparing recommendations for members.
- Works closely with account executive team on pre-renewal strategy, RFP distribution, open enrollment strategy and post renewal analysis.
- Works with account executive team to clearly establish and communicate timelines with the members and keeps all parties apprised of changes and renewal updates.
- Creates member proposals with current and renewal details. Communicates final placement details and instructions to insurers and members.
- Prepares materials needed for member meetings.
- Develops member communication materials for annual renewal changes, enrollment procedures, miscellaneous benefit changes and/or clarifications.
- Works collaboratively with account executive and technology team in the on-boarding of new member offices to establish the implementation plan, timeline and monitors the success of the project in terms of scope, timeliness, and member satisfaction.
- Remains fully knowledgeable on compliance issues governed by legislation and regulations impacting employer sponsored health and welfare plans such as HIPAA, ERISA, Tax Code SEC 125, and PPACA.
- Provides resolution support and oversight of employee issues, such as enrollment and billing issues.
- Ensures accuracy of member data in client management software.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Florida 2-15 Life & Health License
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in account management / service / consultation of employee benefits in an agency, insurance carrier, PEO or similar
- Experience servicing and renewing Employer Groups with employees ranging in number from 50-1500+
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel as required
Preferences
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience with Benefits Administration Platforms
- Thorough knowledge of Affordable Care Act, SPD, Medicare Part D, HIPAA, and other compliance areas
- Good understanding of alternate funding arrangements including full and partially insured, minimum premium, self-insured, etc.
