Waldorf School of New Orleans is looking for energetic and motivated substitute teachers to work with students from nursery through 8th grade. The best candidates for substitute teacher jobs have a bachelor’s degree and enjoy working with children. They are flexible and have some sort of education experience. Successful candidates will have to undergo a background check.
Substitute Teacher Responsibilities:
- Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.
- Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans.
- Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students.
- Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment.
- Supervise students out of class such as in hallways and at playgrounds.
- Learn and follow the professional expectations outlined in the WSNO Employee Handbook.
Substitute Teacher Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong command of English language
- Average competency in most or all subjects
- Ability to remember many names
- Flexible, friendly and good at establishing quick rapport with students
- Setting the proper tone from the beginning for classroom management
- Reliable and dependable professionals

Additional Details:
Substitute Teachers may be asked to work at either of our two campuses (2010 Peniston St and/or 2539 Columbus St).
This position is for the 2024/2025 School Year. The first day of school is August 12, 2024.
