General Description:
We are a 24 hour, 7 day a week emergency hospital that is looking for a self motivated and driven veterinary technician that cares and loves animals as much as we do. Must be able to conduct intake examinations, performing diagnostics, assist during surgical procedures, feed and care for animals, maintain supplies and equipment, and update records on patients. Job Requirements/Skills/Physical Demands:
An employee in this position must be able to work in a critical emergency setting. We are strictly emergency at night. . A technician must be able to think on their feet, be self motivated, and self determined.
Essential Functions:
- Provide compassionate care for pets
- Restrain pets for veterinarians and other technicians.
- Monitor, record, and report physical signs of hospitalized pets.
- Preform emergency triage.
- Pull blood and place IV Catheters.
- Complete diagnostics such as blood work, radiography, cystocentesis, and take blood pressure.
- Assist, prep, and monitor for any surgical procedure.
- Have great phone skills.
- Communicate well with clients and the doctor on duty.
- Complete notes on exam or surgical procedure on each patient.
- Clean cages, runs, and hospital facilities, including: exam rooms, treatment room, isolation area, lab area, employee lounge, and bathrooms
- Maintain treatment area, pharmacy, lab, surgery, and x-ray areas in a neat and sanitary condition
- Provide clean bedding, water, and litter pans for pets
- Feed hospitalized pets as needed
- Retrieve pets and their belongings for discharge
- Perform other duties as assigned
