MRKT Space is a new upscale neighborhood all-day café. We have two locations, one on Coast Hwy in Encinitas and the other in La Jolla. Our concept focuses on the fun part of drinks and food. We aim for a customer experience that is simple, yet of the highest quality. We offer craft coffee, beer, wine, cocktails and a gourmet market.
We are seeking a back of the house lead cook that can add value to our customer experience, store, and lead the boh staff while Sous chef is out of the building.
What really makes the difference for us is your attitude and energy. We are seeking a team player who has experience in and/or can take responsibility with:
- Prepare all hot and cold cafe foods
- Prepare prep sheet to include all items that need to be prepared or ordered
- Follow prep sheet and communicate to Chef in accordance
- Ensure set prep times are met
- Set up, operate, and clean all kitchen machinery/equipment and store it in its proper place
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and handling of equipment, using only as intended and only after proper training has been demonstrated
- Efficiently work with materials and/or resources, being aware of and minimizing costs and expenses
- Execute recipes, with precision and care
- Apply knife skills required for service and preparation
- Maintain a solid menu knowledge and attention to detail
- Communicate with management, chefs, and service staff to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees
- Train new hires
- Provide ongoing training to current staff, always ensuring quality and standards are being implemented.
- Comply with all safety and health department procedures and all state and federal laws
- Maintain company safety and sanitation standards
- Ensure complete and proper check out procedures
- Ensure nightly/weekly and opening/running/closing duties are completed
- Assists and/ or completes additional tasks as assigned
