How to be Successful in the Role:
In this role, a positive attitude, consistency, excellent attendance and punctuality are the keys to success. As you fulfill all required training, your willingness to learn and embrace coaching will guide your success. Following training, you will demonstrate competence in Spanaway Park and Small Parks daily operations. You will continue to develop maintenance skills by meeting annual training and development goals as identified by your supervisor. Your strong work ethic and flexibility will be critical to your success.
Your Future in this Role:
You will support the scheduled development of new parks and trails in Small Parks and improvement projects at Spanaway Park. You will get to be part of an integrated Central Region maintenance team. Success in this position also offers a great foundation for future professional growth within the Parks and Recreation department.
Core Daily Responsibilities:

General Park maintenance duties such as opening/closing facilities, grounds maintenance, turf management, garbage/litter pick up and disposal, cleaning public restrooms, site and structure inspections, facilities maintenance, vandalism repair, and unauthorized encampment clearance.

The employee will also be involved in ballfield, playground, trails, and irrigation systems maintenance.

Proficiency using an automated Work Order system to retrieve assignments and document work performed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Additional education or training may substitute for up to one year of related experience
-
Two or more years work experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, construction, or maintenance trades.

Ability to successfully complete all required background investigations.

Employees are subject to 24-hour on-call availability and must be able to work any shift at any location as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience installing and maintaining irrigation systems.

Facilities and grounds maintenance experience.
Possession of, or the ability to obtain may be required for some positions:

Valid Washington State Driver's license

Valid First Aid Certification including CPR
-
Valid Washington State Pesticide License
-
Satisfactory physical condition is required as indicated by a County-approved physical examination.
