Williams & Connolly LLP is seeking a Staff Accountant. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Finance, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Auditing and processing expense reports to ensure compliance with the firm's policies;
- Identifying expenses still in progress to ensure reports settle in a timely manner;
- Processing payments and reimbursements for all firm personnel;
- Analyzing and distributing monthly personal bills for all firm personnel;
- Balancing the accounting system daily and monthly to ensure a timely close;
- Coordinating the close of month end and the opening of the new accounting period;
- Reconciling firm-issued credit cards for all account holders;
- Reconciling clients' interest-bearing escrow accounts;
- Reconciling the firm's District of Columbia Interest on Lawyers' Trust Account (IOLTA);
- Uploading disbursements, journal entries, and credits into the accounting system;
- Supporting other areas of Accounting such as Accounts Receivable, Treasury Management, Client Escrow, and Financial Reporting;
- Engaging in ad hoc analysis, research, and reporting.
The ideal candidate will have 3 - 5 years of accounting experience, be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, possess knowledge of Aderant Expert financial management system preferred, and demonstrate the following attributes:
- strong verbal, written, and presentation skills;
- excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills;
- a high level of attention to detail and accuracy;
- the ability to work independently or cohesively as a member of a team;
- the ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities to meet goals and deadlines.
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
This is a non-exempt position. The working hours for this position are 9:00 am - 5:30 pm. Flexibility with regards to schedule; willingness to working longer hours as needed. After successfully completing the introductory period, the candidate will be eligible to work the department's approved hybrid schedule. Candidates must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $67,000 - $81,000. The final offer amount is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, education, and other relevant skills and qualifications.
