The teacher helps to create a caring and safe environment for the children and collaborates in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen, be reliable, and work well with others in a team environment. We are looking for someone passionate about Early Childhood and the impact it has on children's future.
This position reports to Center Director or Lead Educator depending on your role.
Key Responsibilities
Child-Centered Learning:
- Facilitate the social, emotional, and cognitive development of toddlers through engaging and age-appropriate activities.
- Create a stimulating and safe learning environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and independence.
Curriculum Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and implement creative and play-based lesson plans tailored to the developmental needs of toddlers, in accordance with FrogStreet & Conscious Discipline
- Foster language development, motor skills, and social interactions through carefully designed activities.
- Collaborate with the Curriculum Coordinator for monthly lesson planning
Basic Care and Needs:
- Attend to toddlers' basic needs, including feeding, diapering, and nap time routines.
- Encourage the development of self-help skills and independence in toddlers.
Effective Communication:
- Establish open lines of communication with parents, providing regular updates on toddlers' activities, milestones, and any concerns.
- Collaborate with colleagues, and directors, attend team meetings, and actively contribute to a supportive teaching environment.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and secure classroom environment.
- Implement emergency procedures as required.
Parent Engagement:
- Cultivate positive relationships with parents through ongoing communication, conferences, and participation in center events.
- Provide resources and guidance to parents for supporting their child's development at home.
Professional Development:
- Participate in continuous professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in toddler education.
- Stay abreast of relevant research and trends in early childhood education.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively with fellow teachers, directors, and curriculum coordinator to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Contribute to a positive team culture that fosters collaboration and mutual support.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
- Professional childcare experience.
- High energy.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- An understanding of early child development.
- Dependability
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. (Will provide)
- Must clear a full background check and must pass a health screening.
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- AA or bachelor's Degree preferred but not necessary
- A willingness to pursue further education and training to grow and develop in a chosen profession
Physical Requirements
- Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools, or controls, and talk to and hear voices at many levels. You may also be required to kneel, bend, squat, or crawl.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
Pay Range:
32 - 35 hours a week, $17 an hour
School Hours:
Tuesday - Friday
7:00 am - 5:30 pm
