Role:
The Volunteer & Development Coordinator will administer all aspects of WCH’s volunteer program including recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers. Provide event support including creative content, digital and print pieces, signage, logistics, auction website, vendors, and meeting support. Serve as lead for holiday donations and adoptions. Secure youth activity passes and discounts. Cultivate and support WCH relationships with churches, funeral homes, and community groups. Support department operations.
Hours: M-F 8:30a - 5:30p. The work hours are generally 40 hours Monday through Friday. However, this individual is expected to work outside of these hours on a semi-frequent basis. This will include special events, volunteer events, and community events. November to January will require additional hours including evenings and weekends.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteers:
- Communicates with all WCH departments to identify opportunities; recruits volunteers to fit these roles.
- Matches, schedules, and coordinates volunteers with regular check-ins to ensure assignment fit.
- Conducts volunteer background checks, orientation, and applicable training while maintaining up-to-date files, applications, and other volunteer data.
- Stays current on DCF, VOCA, KS Department of Health, and other volunteer requirements/guidelines to ensure all WCH volunteer practices are in compliance.
- Drafts, maintains, and publishes guidelines, best practices, and procedures in compliance with agency volunteer requirements.
- Prepares monthly volunteer reports, analyses, and summaries.
- Implements and coordinates volunteer recognition and appreciation events/activities.
- Oversees and hosts volunteer groups and projects including workdays, mailings, and events.
- Works closely with staff and volunteers to gather stories, photos, and videos.
Events/Development:
- Creates and updates digital and print pieces supporting WCH programs and events.
- Works closely with Development Officer on fundraising events, logistics, and meeting support.
- Negotiates with and secures vendors; oversees all event printing and signage.
- Manages and supports auction website including images, descriptions, and broadcasts.
- Works with development department and committees to ensure proper tracking of gifts, acknowledgement recognition and stewardship of donors.
- Prepares timely and accurate reports and hand written thank you acknowledgements.
- Serves as lead for holiday donations and adoptions.
- Secures youth activity passes and discounts.
- Cultivates and supports WCH relationships with churches, funeral homes, and community groups.
- Supports department operations and serves as the development member of the mail process/recording team.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education/Experience: Two years related experience/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates degree or higher preferred.

Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Able to become proficient in Raiser’s Edge, Handbid, Volgistics, Constant Contact, Adobe Creative Suite

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
