Renowned Midtown Events Facility seeking a full time Chief Engineer
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & POSITION DESCRIPTION
While at all times a direct report to the company’s Director of Operations, to manage the operations of the Engineering Department, including all related personnel. Supervise and assign personnel; identify and communicate departmental/individual job goals, schedules and work projects. Assign and verify completion of all repairs, parts replacement, renovation projects and routine maintenance.
Manage, maintain and repair HVAC mechanical equipment, air-conditioning/refrigeration, heating, ventilation including cooling tower, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems. Identify and implement proactive and preventive maintenance programs.
Ready ability to make general repairs/component replacement, to troubleshoot and diagnose systems problems; and to recommend systems improvements and maintain code compliance. Maintain standards for all areas, including legionella protocols and report deficiencies or propose upgrades to the Operations Management.
Coordinate with the company’s Events Department to prepare for public assembly per NYC code and client needs. Cooperate and communicate with event staff, contractors and consultants in planning work around scheduled events.
Create and maintain shift logs and inspection programs for the Facility and all related equipment in the central data system. Access and maintain all related information to generate routine reports as well as requested reports.
Conduct walk-throughs to visually and physically assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, plumbing and any other related equipment. Retain an uncompromised ability to: climb ladders and multiple staircases; navigate catwalks; enter confined component chambers; manage crawlspaces and lift 50 pounds.
Responsible for all related fire safety and fire brigade protocols, including fire and life safety emergency responses. Assist in all NYC periodic inspections of the facility.

Experience:
· Minimum of 3 years in a similar role, with an emphasis on HVAC installations.
Education/Licenses:
· Associates Degree Preferred
· Certificate of Fitness: P-99 Low PSI Oil Burner, S-95 Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems, S-12 Citywide Sprinkler Systems, S-13 Citywide Standpipe System, Q-01
· Certificate of Qualification for Refrigerating System Operating Engineer Q-01
