Rising Communities (RC), previously Community Health Councils is a non-profit, community-based health education, advocacy and policy organization established in 1992 in response to the growing health and healthcare crisis. RC’s mission is to collectively build equitable systems. RC has been at the forefront of systems change work to eliminate disparities in health and well-being. Summary Description
The Senior Accounting Manager reports to the Controller but also is responsible for preparing ad-hoc reports and financial analysis for the CFO. The Senior Accounting Manager will play a large role in developing and managing the agency’s revenue streams and will study the agency’s financial data to give advice for guiding business investments and the agency’s overall financial strategy. Duties will include monitoring and tracking budgets, implementing financial tools, preparing reports and forecasts, and assisting in long-term planning.
This position ensures that Rising Communities’ financial planning is healthy, is efficient in fulfilling our program objectives and aligns with our core mission.
Position Description
Senior Accounting Manager Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
The Senior Accounting manager is responsible for supporting the executive team with key financial information and operational analytics and driving a culture of accountability in managing the business and adding value to the operations of the organization. Financial accounting, management and required financial reporting for compliance of:
1. Donors – Individual and Corporate
2. Grants – Government & Non-Government
3. Fee-for-service
4. Contracts
5. Social Enterprises
6. Real State Asset
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop financial models through benchmarking and process analysis
- Forecast quarterly and annual performance
- Prepare periodic management and board financial and operations reports
- Prepare cost projections
- Develop and maintain cost drivers
- Analyze and report on current financial status
- Conduct thorough research of historical financial data
- Explore investment options and present risk and opportunities
- Coordinate with the Controller and the executive team on long-term financial planning
- Reconciled and responsible budgets modification. Compare anticipated and actual results and identify areas of improvement
- Participate in budgeting (for departments and projects)
- Review accounting transactions for data accuracy
- Establish financial policies
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and investment decisions
Qualifications and Skills Competency
- Proven work experience as Accounting / Finance Manager or similar role
- Ability to clearly communicate quantitative and qualitative information that can be utilized by management for decision support
- Hands-on experience with financial and statistical software
- Expertise in MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and using advanced formulas)
- Familiarity with finance databases
- Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP)
- Up-to-date with accounting laws and regulations
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to present financial data using detailed reports and charts
- Demonstrable strategic thinking skills
- Confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information
- BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
- Relevant certification (e.g. MBA/CPA/CFA) is a plus
