NGN is currently recruiting for a full time Litigation Paralegal in our Tallahassee office. This is an in-office position. The position will focus on supporting our litigation practice in the following areas: local government, appellate, insurance defense and general civil litigation.
Candidates must have recent experience in a litigation firm.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Investigates case facts and case law to determine causes of action.
2. Reviews and summarizes third party and client documents.
3. Performs legal research which may include automated research services. Specifically, researches sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles and constitutions.
4. Conducts witness interviews.
5. Serves as a liaison between counsel, clients, experts, witnesses, third parties, and other outside contacts.
6. Prepares case summaries.
7. Tracks and monitors cases and documents for ongoing litigation matters.
8. Organizes and maintains litigation files.
9. Compiles documents responsive to discovery requests and attends document productions.
10. Drafts, prepares and reviews legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, discovery materials, appeals and contracts.
11. Assists in trial preparation and discovery practices such as gathering and organizing exhibits, trial data, documents and other materials in response to subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, motions for summary judgments, etc.
12. Keeps current with procedures used by local, state and federal courts.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate.
2. Minimum three years experience as a paralegal.
3. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate by e-mail, telephone, or in person to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact in an environment with a diverse group of personalities.
4. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
5. Ability to meet deadlines in an environment with frequent interruptions.
6. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
8. Analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to identify and resolve problem in a timely manner.
9. Flexible and solution oriented.
10. Advanced skills in computer technology using Microsoft Office Suite.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $69,000.00 - $74,000.00 per year
