Specific Accountabilities
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Senior Commercial Credit Officer. In this key role, you will be responsible for partnering with business relationship management teams and other credit union departments to ensure desired results. You will oversee the evaluation and management of creditworthiness of commercial clients, ensuring sound risk management practices, and contributing to the overall success of our lending portfolio. You will also oversee commercial support areas to ensure that processes are adequate to ensure comprehensive risk management The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in commercial credit analysis, risk assessment, and financial modeling.
- Train and supervise staff.
- Assign, direct, coordinate and review work performed by staff. Fairly and consistently evaluate employees against the Allegacy behaviors.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Credit Analysis Accountabilities:
- Manage a team of professionals to ensure comprehensive credit analyses and loan processing for commercial loan applications, assessing the financial health and creditworthiness of potential borrowers.
- Review financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant documents to determine the level of credit risk associated with each applicant.
- Utilize financial modeling techniques to evaluate the impact of various scenarios on borrowers' financial positions.
- Provide ongoing training and skill-enhancement opportunities for relationship managers pertaining to credit analysis and risk management
Risk Management Accountabilities:
- Provide leadership to business services personnel regarding portfolio-wide issues of growth, quality, and yield.
- Partner with relationship managers to advise on issues of loan structuring, pricing, credit risk, documentation and collections.
- Implement effective risk management strategies to minimize potential credit losses. Direct collection activities for problem loans.
- Monitor existing commercial loan portfolios, identifying and addressing emerging credit risks. Provide reporting to management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements.
- Review due diligence documents and closing documents as needed to ensure compliance with credit approval and best practice.
Decision Making Accountabilities:
- Provide well-informed credit decisions and recommendations to senior management and applicable Board committees, balancing risk and reward considerations including strategic goals for the business services area and the credit union at large.
- Participate in credit committee meetings, including periodic review meetings and problem loan meetings. Present and defend credit proposals and risk grade assignments as assigned.
- Represent credit risk in strategic discussions for business services, including development of strategic plans, annual operating plans, and budget.
Client Interactions
- Collaborate with relationship managers and business development teams to gather additional information and insights on prospective clients.
- Communicate credit decisions and recommendations to relationship managers and clients in a clear and professional manner.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting commercial credit.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the enhancement of credit risk management practices.
- Monitor policy compliance and recommend changes aligned with the risk appetite of the credit union.
- Oversee the enhancement and delivery of periodic business services reports to the Board of Directors.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commercial credit analysis, with a proven track record of handling complex credit transactions.
- Previous experience in a senior credit officer role or similar capacity is highly desirable.
- Strong financial analysis and modeling skills.
- Excellent understanding of commercial lending practices, regulations, and risk management.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to make informed and timely credit decisions.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, CFA) is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Credit Professional (CCP) are a plus.
