Central States Health & Welfare and Pension Funds are two of the largest, multibillion dollar non-profit trust funds in the country. The Funds administer health and pension benefits to nearly one million Teamster members and participants with over 1,000 contributing employers to the Funds. The Research and Correspondence Department is seeking a Health Insurance Operational Supervisor to replace an open position. The Administrative Supervisor will coordinate and oversee daily activities, performance and operations for the Correspondence Clerk team. This supervisor will also oversee multiple department programs/processes and work to ensure that they support the functionality of the department and align with departmental goals. The success of this position will require strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively balance multiple responsibilities at the same time. This supervisor will work with all levels of staff and management within the department and other areas of the Fund to ensure the department’s needs are met.
The successful candidate will be positive, encouraging and approachable. They will have a proven track record of success supervising teams. They will be detailed, efficient and organized in work, experienced in speaking to large and small groups, and will be comfortable navigating technology to multi-task with various computer systems. The successful candidate will have exceptional skills in written and verbal communication, time management, leadership and critical thinking. Knowledge of the Fund’s Health & Welfare Benefit Plans and Fund operations strongly encouraged. Understanding of medical terminology is a plus. High school diploma required; college degree strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Oversees and manages Correspondence Clerk team: answers questions, helps with problem resolution, schedules and leads team meetings, communicates policy and procedures, monitors work performance.
- Coaches and mentors team: initiates and conducts regular meetings regarding work performance, individual development and quality; writes and presents yearly appraisals and handles discipline.
- Help manage and maintain CRM KB Articles and CCM Letter content and updates.
- Coordinate the department stats calculation process and production.
- Serve as lead in the development and oversight of the department’s Quality Assurance Program.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of an R&C TeamSpace on Central Hub.
- Assign and coordinate BCBS Hub inquiries.
- Oversees the Medicare Secondary Payer process as it pertains to R&C.
- Review/edit/approve department timecards for overtime, time off, flex pay and approve staff timecards for payroll on a weekly basis.
- Work with other departments to answer inquiries and work on interdepartmental processes.
- Consistently applies company personnel policies and department rules including compliance with HIPAA privacy standards and the collective bargaining agreement.
- Participates in interviewing and hiring process for Research & Correspondence positions.
- Participate in all supervisor rotations and responsibilities.
- Assist and act as back up to the Training Supervisor as required and Operational Supervisors when needed.
- Lead or participate in special projects as assigned by management and all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- College degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Previous supervisor experience preferred
- Demonstrates excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; is a role model
- Consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and professionalism
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Health & Welfare Plans and Fund operations
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to research an issue and either propose a solution or knows appropriate method to resolve
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong ability to handle difficult situations
- Open minded and challenges others to be willing to embrace change
- Must be flexible, dependable, and organized with good follow through
- Ability to effectively multitask and handle multiple duties or assignments

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
