The Griffin Club in Los Angeles is an upscale tennis club and restaurant looking for Dishwashers/ Prep Cook to join an amazing team!
SUMMARY
Responsible for duties such as dishes, cleanliness of the kitchen, food preparation, organization, sanitation, and production of food items, as well as closing and storage for individual work stations as needed. Responsible for completing all daily and weekly cleaning assignments. Must be able to work successfully as part of a team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for set-up and execution of daily par/prep and organization of the daily workstation.
- Responsible for the opening, set-up, and operation of the dishwashing machine, the sink pot scrub station, and all warewashing set-up.
- Communicate with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef when special products (i.e. chemicals) are needed or having problems with equipment and tools.
- Responsible for the disposal of all food waste, trash receptacles, and breakdown of boxes and larger containers to be placed in dumpsters.
- Must sweep and mop kitchen floors, walk-ins, storerooms, employee break rooms and kitchen office, etc. as directed.
- Preparation of and storage of all food items necessary to operate the kitchen in adherence with Griffin Club standards.
- Upkeep of items used by others i.e. lettuces, vegetables, and fruits if required.
- Assist in receiving and procurement of all goods purchased by the kitchen in an orderly fashion following safety and sanitation procedures.
- Assist co-workers, members, and guests to ensure delivery of standards of service without being directed. Be aware of team members and the environment and participate as a member of the team.
- Responsible for the completion of additional duties as assigned by the Director of Food and Beverage, Executive Chef, Sous Chef, Service Director, etc.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your job, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or directed.
- Adhere to the various company, club, and department written mandatory standards of operation, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, oral instructions, etc. all of which make up the essential functions of the job.
- Responsible for maintaining good conduct and safe working habits while in all areas and assuring others are acting safely.
- Be able to multi-task and work at an efficient pace to keep up with business needs.
- Be able to follow instructions as well as directed.
- Follow all service department and club guidelines and policies as instructed by the supervisor, policies, and manuals.
- Attendance at the daily line-up and participating as requested.
- Wearing a CLEAN and neat uniform that follows the Griffin Club uniform standards daily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma preferred; Two years related experience and/or training
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, and employees. Ability to follow instructions well.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
California Food Handler Certification.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
Attendance requirements for this position as outlined on the weekly schedule. Additional hours are required to meet the deadlines of the position, including weekends and/or holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is usually indoors, in a controlled environment, and in some cases outdoors and experiences a moderate noise level in the work environment.
